Marta Pruna, Biography
CV
From 1988 to 1993 Marta studied Fine Arts at the University of Barcelona. Following graduation she lived for 7 years in Austria, where she established a small studio in Salzburg, having spent 3 months studying at the University of Art and Design in Linz.
While in Salzburg she lectured at Literaturhaus and exhibited with Wilhelm Kaufmann and with Gretl Thuswaldner at the Mirabel Garten Pavilion in Salzburg.
Martha obtained permission to spend several months drawing at the psychiatric hospital in Salzburg. She was interested in the terminal section, the moment before leaving life where everything relaxes.
She completed her PhD in Barcelona with a thesis on movement and gesture in the works of Gilles Deleuze
During a 6-month Erasmus scholarship in Frankfurt she studied at the StädelSchulhe.
While working at Kasper König's Portikus museum and exhibition space in Frankfurt Marta gained experience in the installation of exhibitions by great artists such as Gabriel Orozco or Daniel Büren.
On her return to Barcelona she opened a small sculpture studio and obtained permission to draw musicians and orchestras at the Mozarteum and the Palau de la Música, where for two years she attended opera rehearsals.
During this period Marta participated in about 18 symposia throughout Europe and Asia.
Then Marta moved to a new and much larger studio in a rural setting in the region of Les Garrigues, (Lérida) where here work largely consists of working on and rearranging spaces. She starts what would become her great life project, the Camí dels Set Sentits (Path of the Seven Senses), which has occupied her for the last fourteen years. The artistic and cultural merit of this project has been recognised by the European Union. The itinerary already has about 50 monumental sculptures integrated into nature as well as a museum. Along this path, concerts are sometimes
held, while guided tours are given, and she often invites other international artists, who visit the site and collaborate by creating sculptures.
Since June 2023, the itinerary has been classified as a cultural asset and the Camí dels Set Sentits has become part of the artistic heritage of Catalonia.
Marta holds biennial exhibitions in Switzerland, Austria (such as at the Mirabell- Garten in Salzburg) and Germany, and frequent exhibitions in Catalonia (such as at Espai Guinovart, CACIS, Can Framis, IEI, IEV, and Museu Vida Rural - Fundació Carulla). Recently, she has been invited to exhibit at Sommer Frishe Kunst, where she has sculptures.
She has recently exhibited together with Perico Pastor in the winery de Más Blanch I Jove. She has also exhibited with a Chema Madoz, and Gregori Iglesias.
Exhibitions have also been held in cathedrals such as Seu Vella, romanesque churches in the Vall de Boí, and the Santuari del Miracle in Solsona.
Marta has created monumental sculptures for Manresa, which are part of the Microscopies 2022 project.
In 2019 Marta created the project "Deriva Amor-Fa" sculpting thirty faces into a 15 metre long drystone wall in La Bisbal del Penedès. This project was organized by the Art and Landscape Congress of the University of Barcelona. More recently, she held a solo exhibition "Lo tangible. Fragilitat càlida" at Sala Sant Roc, in Valls.
Monumental sculpture projects are multiplying in Granyena, Maldà, and Salou.
Marta has received several awards, including the International Fine Arts Award from the Perelló Foundation and the Vila Casas Foundation, with works exhibited at Can Mario.
Recently, she has participated in a selection of works at the Diocesan Museum of Lérida.
Marta also regularly exhibits in Menorca, at the Exhibition Hall of Es Migjorn Gran, and participates in the Migjornal·le biennial.
Martha's sculptures figure in public collections in Spain and Portugal. Her work is already part of many private collections, not only in Catalonia but also in Germany, Switzerland, Austria, the United Kingdom and the People's Republic of China.
